Leap into a heart-pumping South African adventure safari

It goes without saying that South Africa is a renowned adventure destination. In fact, it’s one of the best in the world! Imagine the stories you could tell after surfing down the Dragon Dune in Mossel Bay or hiking up the mighty Drakensberg mountains!

The first adventure you can embark on is hot air ballooning over the Magaliesberg mountains. Watch the balloon get prepared from the pavilion by a professional crew before you take off to the skies. During this time you will be offered hot coffee, fresh biscuits or muffins. There is a wide selection of packages you can choose, making it suitable for the lone adventurer or family fun.

For those who want to stay grounded and still experience the thrill of adventure, consider canoeing down the Orange River. The Orange River winds through a bold assortment of topography, which includes some stunning mountain ranges as you meander your way to the Atlantic Ocean. Why not continue your adventure safari by hiking along the Garden Route – South Africa’s best-kept secret. While the scenery might force you to stop and gawk for more than a few moments, it’s still an adventure worth exploring. The Otter Trail is the perfect place to start your Garden Route expedition.

Now that you’re relaxed, let’s increase your heart rate a bit.

Feel the numbness of your feet as you look down the Bloukrans Bridge jumping platform, the world’s highest commercial bungee. The bridge is 216m high and you will experience a drop of 170m. Just another thrilling activity you can find along the Garden Route. If you’re in Johannesburg, get the same thrill at the Orlando Towers in Soweto for that urban thrill ride!

This is the ideal place on the continent to overcome your fears. Live a little, get a glimpse of flying and become a free-spirited adventurist. Whether you’re with a group of friends or are simply flying solo.

If you’re looking to play in the ultimate outdoor playground, South Africa will have your heart pumping and your soul soaring at every turn.

ABOUT AMANDA SAMPAIO

Amanda Sampaio

A bit about me: I am Rhodesian born, grew up in Zululand, South Africa. Post matriculation, I studied a 3 year Travel & Tourism National Diploma; I then spent 7.5 years (during the mid-90’s) working in various operational roles for SAA at the old Durban Airport; My husband, son & I then moved to the UK and lived in south-west London (Worcester Park) for 10.5 years – I worked for 3.5 years in Local Government (at Epsom & Ewell Borough Council) and then for 7 years for QANTAS as part of the Cabin Crew Ground Management Team based at Heathrow and later with Qantas Corporate Sales based in their London Hammersmith office. My family and I have been back in South Africa for almost 3 years now (having missed too much of our family, SA sunshine and braai’s) and during our time back, we are also delighted to have welcomed our 17 month old baby girl into our family! Travel is definitely my passion and is in my ‘blood’ as I am firmly back in the travel seat with my current role within Sales and Marketing at iGo Travel and look after this for our newly launched brand ‘iGO Africa’.
